দীর্ঘ চার বছরের আইনি সংগ্রাম ও রাজনৈতিক প্রতিকূলতার অবসান ঘটিয়ে জাতীয় গণতান্ত্রিক পার্টি—জাগপা পুনরায় ফিরে পেল রাজনৈতিক দল হিসেবে তাদের সাংবিধানিক স্বীকৃতি। নির্বাচন কমিশনের সর্বশেষ প্রজ্ঞাপনের মাধ্যমে রবিবার আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে দলটির নিবন্ধন পুনর্বহাল করা হয়েছে। এতে শুধু একটি দলের নয়, বরং গণতন্ত্রে বিশ্বাসী রাজনৈতিক শক্তিগুলোর মধ্যেও নতুন উদ্দীপনা সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।

নির্বাচন কমিশনের সিনিয়র সচিব আখতার আহমেদ স্বাক্ষরিত প্রজ্ঞাপনে জানানো হয়েছে, ২০২১ সালের ২৮ জানুয়ারি জাগপা’র নিবন্ধন বাতিলের সিদ্ধান্তকে হাইকোর্ট বিভাগ ২০২৫ সালের ১৯ মার্চ অবৈধ ঘোষণা করে। সেই রায়ের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতেই দলটির নিবন্ধন পুনর্বহাল করা হয়েছে। এই সিদ্ধান্ত কার্যকর হওয়ার পরই দেশের বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে জাগপা নেতাকর্মীরা আনন্দ মিছিল ও শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময়ে ব্যস্ত হয়ে পড়েন।

২০০৮ সালের ২০ নভেম্বর জাতীয় গণতান্ত্রিক পার্টি প্রথমবারের মতো নির্বাচন কমিশনের নিবন্ধন লাভ করে। প্রতিষ্ঠাতা নেতা শফিউর রহমান এবং পরবর্তীকালে তার কন্যা তানিয়া রবের নেতৃত্বে দলটি জাতীয় সার্বভৌমত্ব, গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার এবং অর্থনৈতিক মুক্তির প্রশ্নে দৃঢ় অবস্থান নেয়। বিশেষত ভারতের আগ্রাসন ও আধিপত্যবাদের বিরুদ্ধে জাগপা সবসময়ই সোচ্চার থেকেছে। রাজনৈতিক বিশ্লেষকদের মতে, এই স্পষ্ট অবস্থানই পরবর্তীতে দলটির ওপর বিভিন্ন প্রশাসনিক চাপ ও রাজনৈতিক ষড়যন্ত্রের পথ প্রশস্ত করে।

২০২১ সালে নির্বাচন কমিশন হঠাৎ করেই জাগপা’র নিবন্ধন বাতিল করে দেয়। দলটির অভিযোগ ছিল, এটি ছিল রাজনৈতিক উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত সিদ্ধান্ত, যার পেছনে কাজ করেছে বিদেশি প্রভাব এবং সরকারের নির্দেশনা। তবে জাগপা সেই সময়ই ঘোষণা দেয়, তারা সত্য ও ন্যায়ের পথে থাকবে এবং আইনি লড়াই চালিয়ে যাবে। দীর্ঘ চার বছর ধরে সেই লড়াইয়ের মধ্য দিয়ে আজ তাদের স্বপ্নের বাস্তব রূপ পেয়েছে।

দলটির প্রেসিডিয়াম সদস্য, খুলনা বিভাগীয় প্রধান সমন্বয়ক ও যশোর জেলা শাখার প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সভাপতি মোঃ নিজামুদ্দিন অমিত তাৎক্ষণিক প্রতিক্রিয়ায় বলেন, “আজকের দিনটি জাগপা’র জন্য নয়, গোটা বাংলাদেশের গণতন্ত্রপন্থী জনগণের বিজয়ের দিন। বিপ্লবী চেতনা কখনো নিভে না, বিপ্লব আর বিপ্লবীদের দাবিয়ে রাখা যায় না— আজ তারই প্রমাণ।” তিনি আরও বলেন, “জাগপা সব সময় জনগণের স্বার্থে, জাতীয় স্বাধীনতা ও সার্বভৌমত্ব রক্ষার জন্য লড়াই করেছে। আমাদের নিবন্ধন বাতিলের আড়ালে দেশি-বিদেশি ষড়যন্ত্র ছিল। আজ সেই ষড়যন্ত্রের পরাজয় হয়েছে, সত্যের জয় হয়েছে।”

অমিতের দাবি, গত কয়েক বছরে কিছু ব্যক্তি ও গোষ্ঠী জাগপা নাম ব্যবহার করে বিভ্রান্তি সৃষ্টির চেষ্টা করেছিল। কিন্তু আদালতের রায় এবং নির্বাচন কমিশনের প্রজ্ঞাপনের মাধ্যমে সব বিভ্রান্তির অবসান ঘটেছে। তিনি জানান, খুব শিগগিরই কেন্দ্রীয় কমিটি একটি বৃহৎ ‘বিজয় সমাবেশ’ আয়োজন করবে, যেখানে দেশব্যাপী সাংগঠনিক পুনর্গঠন ও আন্দোলনের নতুন কর্মসূচি ঘোষণা করা হবে।

নিবন্ধন পুনর্বহালের খবর ছড়িয়ে পড়ার পর ঢাকাসহ বিভাগীয় শহরগুলোতে আনন্দ মিছিল অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। তরুণ নেতারা সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে “জাগপা ফিরে এসেছে, গণতন্ত্র জিতেছে”— এমন বার্তা প্রচার করেন।

রাজনৈতিক বিশ্লেষকদের মতে, জাগপা’র পুনঃনিবন্ধন বাংলাদেশের রাজনীতিতে একটি তাৎপর্যপূর্ণ ঘটনা। এটি শুধু একটি দলের পুনরুজ্জীবন নয়, বরং ছোট ও মাঝারি রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর জন্য একটি দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করেছে। তারা মনে করেন, রাজনৈতিক বৈচিত্র্য বজায় রাখার ক্ষেত্রে নির্বাচন কমিশনের এই সিদ্ধান্ত গণতান্ত্রিক ব্যবস্থাকে আরও শক্তিশালী করবে।

বিগত কয়েক বছরে জাগপা জাতীয় রাজনীতিতে স্বাধীন পররাষ্ট্রনীতি, উৎপাদনমুখী অর্থনীতি ও সামাজিক ন্যায়বিচারের পক্ষে স্পষ্ট অবস্থান নিয়েছে। তাদের মূলমন্ত্র “জাতীয় মুক্তি, গণতন্ত্র ও সমাজতন্ত্র”— যা তাদের রাজনৈতিক কর্মকাণ্ডের কেন্দ্রবিন্দু। দলটির নেতারা বিশ্বাস করেন, নতুন এই বৈধতা তাদের আন্দোলন ও সংগঠনের পরিসর আরও বিস্তৃত করবে।

দীর্ঘদিন পর নিবন্ধন ফিরে পাওয়াকে জাগপা নেতারা গণতন্ত্রের পুনর্জাগরণ হিসেবে দেখছেন। তাদের মতে, এটি একটি ঐতিহাসিক মুহূর্ত, যা প্রমাণ করে— আদালত ও জনগণের যৌথ শক্তির কাছে অন্যায় সিদ্ধান্ত টেকে না। দলটির নেতা-কর্মীরা এখন নতুনভাবে সংগঠন পুনর্গঠন, তৃণমূল কার্যক্রম শক্তিশালী করা এবং পরবর্তী জাতীয় নির্বাচনে সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণের প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছেন।

জাগপা নেতাদের ভাষায়, এই পুনরুদ্ধার কেবল একটি রাজনৈতিক দলের নয়, বরং বাংলাদেশের গণতন্ত্র, মতপ্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা এবং জাতীয় মর্যাদার বিজয়। যেমনটি বলেছেন নিজামুদ্দিন অমিত—
“আজ সত্যের জয় হয়েছে, কারণ বিপ্লব আর বিপ্লবীদের কখনো দাবিয়ে রাখা যায় না।”

JAGPA regains registration: Revolution and revolutionaries can never be held back

After four years of legal struggle and political adversities, the Jatiya Ganatantrik Party-JAGPA regained its constitutional recognition as a political party. The party’s registration was officially reinstated on Sunday through the latest notification of the Election Commission. This has created new enthusiasm not only among a party, but also among political forces that believe in democracy.

The notification signed by Senior Secretary of the Election Commission, Akhtar Ahmed, stated that the decision to cancel the registration of JAGPA on January 28, 2021 was declared illegal by the High Court Division on March 19, 2025. The party’s registration was reinstated in light of that verdict. After this decision came into effect, JAGPA leaders and activists in different parts of the country got busy with joyous processions and exchanging greetings.

On November 20, 2008, the Jatiya Ganatantrik Party obtained the registration of the Election Commission for the first time. Under the leadership of founding leader Shafiur Rahman and later his daughter Tania Rob, the party took a strong stand on issues of national sovereignty, democratic rights and economic freedom. JAGPA has always been vocal, especially against Indian aggression and hegemony. According to political analysts, this clear stance paved the way for various administrative pressures and political conspiracies on the party later.

In 2021, the Election Commission suddenly cancelled the registration of JAGPA. The party alleged that this was a politically motivated decision, behind which foreign influence and government directives worked. However, JAGPA declared at that time that they would stand on the path of truth and justice and continue the legal fight. Through that long four-year struggle, their dream has come true today.

Md. Nizamuddin Amit, the party’s presidium member, Khulna divisional chief coordinator and founding president of Jashore district branch, said in an immediate reaction, “Today is not a day for JAGPA, but a day of victory for the pro-democracy people of Bangladesh. Revolutionary spirit never dies, revolution and revolutionaries cannot be suppressed – today is proof of that.” He also said, “JAGPA has always fought for the interests of the people, to protect national independence and sovereignty. There was a domestic and foreign conspiracy behind the cancellation of our registration. Today, that conspiracy has been defeated, the truth has won.” Amit claimed that in the last few years, some individuals and groups had tried to create confusion by using the name of JAGPA. But all the confusion has ended with the court verdict and the notification of the Election Commission. He said that very soon the central committee will organize a large ‘victory rally’, where a new program of organizational restructuring and movement will be announced nationwide.

After news of the re-registration spread, joyous processions were held in Dhaka and other divisional cities. Young leaders spread the message “JAGPA is back, democracy has won” on social media.

According to political analysts, the re-registration of JAGPA is a significant event in Bangladeshi politics. It is not just the revival of a party, but also sets an example for small and medium-sized political parties. They believe that the Election Commission’s decision will further strengthen the democratic system in maintaining political diversity.

In the past few years, JAGPA has taken a clear stand in favor of an independent foreign policy, a productive economy and social justice in national politics. Their motto is “national liberation, democracy and socialism”—which is the centerpiece of their political activities. The party leaders believe that this new legitimacy will further expand the scope of their movement and organization.

JAGPA leaders see the re-registration after a long time as a revival of democracy. According to them, this is a historic moment, which proves that unjust decisions cannot stand up to the combined power of the court and the people. The party’s leaders and activists are now preparing to reorganize the organization, strengthen grassroots activities, and actively participate in the next national elections.

In the words of the JAGPA leaders, this revival is not just a victory for a political party, but also for Bangladesh’s democracy, freedom of expression, and national dignity. As Nizamuddin Amit said—
“Today, truth has triumphed, because revolution and revolutionaries can never be suppressed.”
